Disaster Preparedness Program

Manila Doctors Hospital

Blueprint

Premise and Situation:

All hospitals must have a disaster preparedness program.

Manila Doctors Hospital has a written structured disaster preparedness program as of 1992. Problems have been implementation, updating, and sustainability.

Objectives:

To reactivate and update the written structured comprehensive hospital disaster preparedness program.

To implement the program either through real or simulated disasters.

To evaluate the disaster preparedness program.

To formulate a strategy for sustainability.

To create a model of a hospital disaster preparedness program for public relations and marketing purpose.

Evaluation:

There is a written hospital disaster preparedness plan (hdpp).

There is a structured hdpp.

The hdpp is disseminated to all heads of units and to least 80% of the personnel.

The hdpp is being used in real disasters or simulated disasters (at least once a year).

The hdpp is being evaluated at least after each real disaster and updated thereafter (at least once every 2 years).
