MDC Nursing Students’ Participation in 2006 MDH Earthquake Drill

 

A Report

 

A total of 128 nursing students of Manila Doctors College participated in the MDH Earthquake Drill last June 20, 2006.  A pre-drill orientation and teaching of patients and their relatives were conducted on June 19, 2006.  The following table shows the activities carried by the nursing students:

Our set targets (number of persons taught) for the 2006 MDH Earthquake Drill:

500 staff

100 patients (both inpatient and outpatient)  

100 visitors (including nursing students)

 

Contribution of MDC nursing students to the set targets:

 

220 patients – inpatients (200) + outpatients (20)

148 visitors – nursing students (128) + relatives of patients (20)

 

 

A memorandum of partnership in MDH Earthquake Preparedness Program was forged on June 19, 2006 between MDH and MDC.  This partnership includes partnership in the annual conduct of the MDH earthquake drill as well as in the learning sessions on earthquake preparedness.
