Memorandum of Partnership in MDH Earthquake Preparedness Program

Partnership between Manila Doctors Hospital and Manila Doctors College

In the Annual Conduct of MDH Earthquake Drill

Whereas, earthquake can occur anytime;

Whereas, Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) can be affected by an earthquake anytime;

Whereas, the MDH Earthquake Preparedness Program takes into consideration the welfare not only of its internal staff but also of its patients and visitors;

Whereas, all nursing students from Manila Doctors College (MDC) are doing practicum in MDH;

Whereas, the nursing students from MDC, being frequent visitors of MDH, are included in the concerns of the MDH Earthquake Preparedness Program as well as in the overall MDH Disaster Preparedness Program;

Whereas, one of the goals of the MDH Earthquake Preparedness Program is to promote awareness on earthquake preparedness and response in a hospital setting not only to the community at large but also to health institutions like MDC;

Whereas, the nursing curriculum of MDC contains learning sessions on disaster preparedness;

Whereas, the annual MDH Earthquake Drill, which is part of the MDH Disaster Preparedness Program, can provide intensive and practical learning opportunities for the MDC nursing students on earthquake preparedness and response in a hospital setting;

Be it resolved, therefore, that a partnership be forged between the Manila Doctors Hospital and the Manila Doctors College in the annual conduct of the MDH Earthquake Drill starting 2006 in consideration of the following benefits to both parties:

1. To provide a life protection learning to MDC nursing students when they are in MDH when an earthquake strikes;
2. To enrich the teaching-learning sessions of MDC on disaster preparedness to its nursing students;
3. To assist MDH in providing information and education on earthquake preparedness in a hospital setting to its patients; and
4. To assist MDH in conducting its annual earthquake drill.

Be it resolved, further, that MDH and MDC collaboratively design an instructional blueprint related to the MDH Earthquake Drill complete with objectives, learning activities, and evaluation.
