MDH-ER DISASTER CONTROL

INSTRUCTIONAL SIMULATION

SITUATION I

SECTION E

You have disposed five patients from the ER since you declared the disaster.  There are still ten patients inside the ER, all of whom are fire victims, stable, and not needing urgent treatment.  You have a list of hospital vacancies.  There are ten private rooms, six semiprivate rooms, two beds in the ICU, five beds in the male surgical ward and three beds in the female surgical wards.

To decongest the ER, you would NOW order (Select as many as consider indicated):

 24. The orderlies to transport patients to the vacancies in the hospital without waiting for the admitting section to complete the admitting procedures.

24. Spaces and beds  are now available for more patients who may come into the ER.  The admitting procedures are completed after the patients are brought to the hospital rooms.

Good Choice!

You may want to have other ways of decongesting the ER.
